Inclement Weather

We do not cancel program wide. Please be sure we can reach you! Have a daytime and evening phone number on file with your teacher and our office. If you have not heard from your teacher, call them.

If your teacher cancels due to bad weather, a make-up lesson will be given at the teacher’s convenience. Credits will be issued if scheduling is not possible for the teacher.

Makeup Policy

  • Two lessons per academic year (Sept. 1 – Dec. 31 and Jan.1 through the end of the school year) to be made up by arrangement with your teacher.  Makeup lessons are not given for family vacations. Most music schools have a very strict “no makeup” policy. We do our very best to offer a fair policy that respects the teacher’s time and family events.
  • Unlimited in the case of teacher cancellation. Credit will be issued on the following billing statement if rescheduling due to teacher cancellation is not possible.
  • There are no makeup lessons for group, summer lessons, or missed makeup lessons.
  • There are no makeup lessons for lessons missed on the first or last week of any semester – no exceptions. This also includes Thanksgiving week, Christmas week, Spring Break and Easter Vacation.
  • It is the responsibility of the parent to notify their child’s private lesson teacher of a field trip IN WRITING no later than 10 days prior to the date of the trip. A lesson will be rescheduled only if this criteria is met. It is not the responsibility of the private teacher to find out dates for field trips.
  • Your private teacher is not obligated to switch lessons times for sports or other extracurricular activities beyond our stated makeup policy. Any accommodation done by your teacher is out of the goodness of his/her heart. Please understand that lesson credits are not given if your teacher is unable to reschedule for any of these activities. We do our absolute best to help when we can!

Stopping Lessons

Discontinuing lessons is as important a decision as starting them. The first step in this process is calling (not texting) your teacher to share your concerns, consider alternatives, and if necessary, bring things to a positive end. Please note that a text message will not be accepted for lesson termination.
